Following on from our Bucket Filling stories, the children were given the challenge of making a bucket to hold some love. The criteria were that the buckets had to have a handle and they must be able to hold some love (differently weighed heart shaped rocks). The children really enjoyed this challenge and came up with a variety of ways to make engineer their buckets. Take a look at the slideshow below, along with the bucket filling story - it really is a lovely story and a great message. There hasn't been this much excitement around Kindy for a long time - it was hard to contain!! With a report from the office lades of the sighting of a large, white 'thing' rushing past the window, we just had to investigate! We ended up finding a trail of white fluff that had been caught in the spiky lamandras and along the fence... leading to the classrooms! THEN... there were footprints at the door and inside on the carpet... and chocolate eggs were found in our baskets in our trays!!! Sooooooo exciting!! We were able to combine our fractions lesson on halves with Easter this week... hot cross buns and kinetic sand were our teaching tools. The children demonstrated a solid understanding of the concept of half - 2 pieces, and they must be equal in size or number. |
