We have had a HUGE amount of fun and learning during Vegetable Week. During Literacy groups we have read stories and factual texts about vegetables, we have made peas in pods, corn and husks and have been in to the school vegetable garden to discuss the different parts of a plant , to plant vegetable seeds and to do observational drawings of the vegetables in the garden.
In Maths groups we have made a pictograph showing how many students brought vegetables for 'Crunch and Sip' each day and during maths groups we have shared vegetables in equal groups, ordered carrots according to the numeral written on them, planted play dough carrots to feed the rabbits the correct number of carrots, counted and recorded how many vegetables we could see and compared the length of different vegetables using a base line.
Vegetables are not only delicious but fun and educational too!
On Thursday 1st March our school took part in the 'BIG veggie Crunch. At 10 am we recorded how many students had vegetables for their 'Crunch and Sip' break. In Kindergarten of the 47 students present 31 students brought veggies. Well done Kindergarten!
