PDH stands for Personal Development and Health. In Week 4 we have continued to investigate sun safe practices. Students were engaged in a discussion about how the sun can be good for us and can also harm us. How we can protect ourselves from getting sunburnt was the main component of the lesson so we looked at different types of hats and evaluated their effectiveness of protecting us. This concept was reinforced with a fashion parade where a few students were asked to model a type of hat/headwear on the Kindergarten catwalk. Students were asked to rate the level of sun protection that each hat provides using a 'Thumbs Up' or 'Thumbs Down' rating. This activity was enjoyed by all!
Students were then asked to draw a design for their own hat that would provide good protection from the sun. This task was then integrated into our Week 4 STEM activity that challenged to students to make their hat using recyclable materials.
